The “Go for the Gold!” reading contest begins June 10, 2011 and runs through August 29, 2011. The “Go For the Gold!” form must be filled out completely and then turned in to the designated box in the school library in order for the books you have read to count toward your goal. The box will be clearly marked “Go For the Gold!” Individual winners will be announced and prizes awarded on Friday, September 9, 2011. Final deadline for the entries to be turned in is Wednesday, September 2, 2011. Plan ahead! It is best to turn them in the first day of school. Don’t wait until the last minute to turn in your entries. In order to be fair to all, No late entries will be accepted. No exceptions.
This is an optional contest. However, if you do not participate you cannot win! Make as many duplicates of the form as you need. Save forms over the summer and deposit them in the box in the school library once school begins. Do not give them to your teacher. The enclosed reading list is a guide from your teacher. It is a suggested reading list. Any books you read between June 10, 2011 and August 29, 2011, will qualify toward your goal in the Summer Reading Olympics. Have a great summer, train hard, read, read, read, and we look forward to awarding the Olympians at the closing ceremony on September 9, 2011. Go for the Gold! 1. Fill out each form completely. There are 4 forms on each page. Please do not cutthem apart. You only need one parent signature on each page. 2. If you start a book and don’t finish that is OK. Please only record the actual number of pages you read. Don’t leave it off you will not get credit for the book if you leave information off.3. Turn your forms in on time and in the appropriate box. (Mom and Dad should not do this for you) Your parents may (if they choose) help you with filling out your forms. This contest is just for fun so read something just for fun. You can read to someone, read to yourself, or have someone read to you.
